The Meegoda – Dampe Beruketiya road has been paved with asphalt infused with recycled plastic.
The project kicked off yesterday (26) under the auspices of Trade minister – Bandula Gunawardena.
The project is jointly conducted by the Western Province Waste Management Authority, Western Province Provincial Road Development Authority and the private company – AGC Innovate, as a sustainable solution to the plastic waste.
The Western Province Waste Management Authority provides the waste while AGC Innovate creates the plastic infused asphalt. The final product is used by the Western Province Provincial Road Development Authority to pave the roads.
